Happy New Year!

A 2020 post, better late than never!

Already half way through January, it feels like the last 2 weeks have totally flown by! The New Year always brings new goals and expectations… but this year my only ‘resolution’ is to be more present. To enjoy where I am, who I’m with and who I am right now.

Bike Training… or lack of…

Much like my training for LEJOG, I had good intentions of training more for Tassie. I did do a lot of 20-30km daily rides before Christmas and New Year which I’m sure I’ll be grateful for! But this year I’ve just done one big ride of 70km… admittedly in 30 degree heat, which makes it way way way way harder! Anyway, on this road my bike didn’t feel too good, so Its been in the bike shop this week getting a fix up (and a clean up!!) I have a sparkling bike again, with a new chain, new brakes, new bearings and new tubes! After a quick test ride it’s actually time to box it all up again and get it shipped to Tassie to meet me there. After the hassle of getting it on the plane last time I figured I didn’t need that stress again and I’ll ship it before time. This way I wont have to worry about my bike for a couple of weeks whilst I enjoy my LAST 🙁 week in Perth and then 8 days in Melbourne!!!

My Ride to Fremantle! A beautiful beach town here in WA.

I should probably stop getting used to the flat terrain here… because Tassie is going throw some pretty decent hills at me!

The Countdown to the Tassie Ride…

19 days to go…. I finally have all my flights booked. I’ll be landing in Tassie at the end of the month, with a night in Hobart before the Ride!

The realisation of leaving has really kicked in after having such a wonderful weekend down in Mandurah with a friend and the kiddos!
I know leaving is going to be hard, it always is… but its harder leaving a place that I feels like home. I love it this side of the world, and although I can’t quite figure it out yet, or believe that I’m ready to, I know I will be back.

But… For now I have 5 more days in Baldivis with these kiddos. Between packing and planning there will be plenty of fun this week. Then a weekend hanging out in the city at Fringe, before flying out next week to Melbourne for more visiting with friends and hopefully some hiking up in the mountains!

2020… keep being AWESOME!
