Ive been meaning to do a post-bike ride blog for a while, but its been a pretty full on and crammed packed 8 weeks!
Firstly I want to again say thank you to everyone that helped me raise a ton of money for Scope and the ChiefandCalla Foundation.
The total raised was $1705 CAD. Which converted into the correct currencies gives the charities:
Scope: £500
ChiefandCalla Foundation: $650 USD
If you were wondering how much shit I was carrying on my bike during the 23 days on the road. Here it is…. clothes and accessories.
So LeJog before 30 is finished! I celebrated my birthday with friends in Scotland. Who would have known a pub crawl would have ended up with $450 more in sponsorship… and a lot of free whiskey. We took part in the Linlithgow Pub Crawl, a small town pub crawl – only really done it for the ‘free’ yellow pub crawl T-shirt at the end. I needed something new to wear… 🙂
At the last pub, we met two couples, who were from the town we were in. After several drinks and them trying to convince me to join the Army, the bike ride came up and they were more than happy to sponsor me. I couldn’t quite believe it when he asked “is $400 enough?” I defiantly thought he was kidding, or was drunk… but a few minutes later he has given me his credit card and told me if I put the info in he will put the amount in. And there we are $400 up and then another $50 from his buddy. I have pretty much made a dollar per KM I biked which is AWESOME! 🙂
Some Photos from the pub crawl!
Between the end of October and now (Start of December) I’ve spent time visiting friends and family. I also took road trips in Scotland and Ireland, and continued exploring more of the UK! I have been missing my bike, having only got 1 or 2 rides out of it since the end of LeJog… But now (with a huge amount of hassle) I have my bike with me in Western Australia where Im trying to prepare for another cycle tour around Tasmania. The summers are definitely hot here in WA, with the first week averaging 40degrees daily! (and yes thats in celsius!)
As much as I have loved having the last 7 weeks to just visit and have fun, Im ready for a new focus. Ill be au pairing in Perth, and getting fit for the next 6 weeks before my next adventure in Tasmania (blog post on that coming really soon!)
Im not sure on my plans for the rest of 2020. But I am trusting in fate. Things will work out. 🙂 All I know is I like this side of the world!
